You film assigned weddings — ceremony, speeches, the moments around them — and hand the footage over. The edit is a separate role, so you are paid for the shoot and never sat on a week of timeline work you did not want.

What you would do

Film assigned weddings, including audio capture for vows and speeches
Hand over footage the same night, to the studio's naming convention
Work alongside the photographer rather than around them
Log anything unusable while you still remember it

What you need

Your own camera, lenses, audio kit and stabilisation
One wedding film you can show, or comparable event work
Your own liability insurance
Dual recording or a same-day copy routine

$450 a day, $300 for a ceremony-only film, $125 for a recap

A day is up to 8 hours of coverage; beyond that, $45 an hour.
Slightly above the photographer day rate: the audio kit and the second angle are yours to carry.
The edit is not included and is quoted separately per film.

Why that number: Wedding videographers in DFW quote $1,200-2,500 for a filmed and edited day. Roughly two thirds of that is the edit, so paying for capture alone sits at $450 and leaves the cut to be bought separately.

Paid within 7 days of the booking's balance settling, through the payout request in your panel. The studio does not pay out of a deposit it might still owe back, so payout follows settlement rather than the wedding date.
